About Us
The Southern Forest Products Association (SFPA) was founded in 1915 in New Orleans. Today, SFPA is recognized as one of the foremost trade organizations in the forest products industry and represents Southern Pine lumber manufacturers from Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. SFPA has international market consultants serving markets in Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, Japan, China, India and the Middle East.
SFPA partners with exporting members of the Southeastern Lumber Manufacturers Association (SLMA) in a joint promotional program that operates under the banner of the Southern Pine Council (SPC). Southern Pine Council members include more than 85 Southern Pine lumber manufacturers, treaters, distributors, exporters and associated businesses, representing over 60% of all Southern Pine lumber produced in the US. SPC coordinates many promotional activities with APA-The Engineered Wood Association and the Softwood Export Council under the banner of American Softwoods to grow demand for softwood products in targeted international markets.
